SHORT DESCRIPTION

The reddish-brown gum resin par of Shalmali is called mochrasa which is sweet, astringent in taste and cooling in nature. It is styptic and hemostatic in action as the gum exudate contains gallic and tannic acids. Aid in balancing kapha and pitta dosa effectively.

  • Shalmali Ghrita, Chandana Sava, and Himasagara Thailam are important Ayurvedic compositions made using Mochras (Salmalia malabarica).
  • The single maximum dose is 5-8 gm once a day with milk after a meal or as prescribed by the physician.
